2005 Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care (MOHLTC) announces 22 new CHCs, including a CHC in Brantford/Brant

2006 MOHLTC hires the Association of Ontario Health Centres (AOHC), a policy and advocacy organization supporting CHCs province-wide, to recruit a steering committee of community stakeholders which would lead the development of Grand River CHC

April 2007 Steering Committee for CHC officially appointed

September 2007 CHC receives MOHLTC funding of $75,000 to begin the community engagement process with focus on involving community members

November 2007 CHC receives non-profit incorporation status

March 2008 First Board of Directors for Grand River CHC established

March/April 2008 Community Engagement Final Report approved by LHIN and funding of $200,000 received from MOHLTC through the LHIN to fund activity associated with start-up

August 2008 Pre-operational plan submitted to the HNHB LHIN and approved

November 2008 Agreement signed between MOHLTC and GRCHC for $2.7m in operational funding

December 2008 GRCHC submits Business Case and Functional Plan to the MOHLTC, the first in a multi-step review & approval process for a permanent site

March 2009 GRCHC receives status as a registered charitable organization

May 2009 GRCHC opens 3100 sq.ft. interim site at 347 Colborne to meet immediate needs in community and start staff recruitment

July 2009 GRCHC clinical staff see first client at CHC’s interim site

September 2009 GRCHC receives approval from MOHLTC for $3.5 million in capital funding for development of an 18,000 sq.ft. site at 351 Colborne Street

January 2010 Interim site expands to 3600 sq.ft. for extra exam rooms, with some staff moving off-site

August 2011 MOHLTC approves GRCHC to tender general construction for renovation of permanent site

January 2012 Construction renovations begin on permanent site

March 2013 GRCHC moves into its new permanent home

June 2013 GRCHC hosts a Grand Opening Celebration!
